Reading this now — post-reveal — I am amazed at the thoughtfulness you gave this. I was working on the Law & Order Principle, too, and they really did surprise me with Ellen. I’m not sure how I feel about that, though; I hope they didn’t have to rush the storyline arc too much because of the ending being so near. Right now, I’m happy about the action in the last episode (things went BOOM) but a little confused at the Cylons that are acting so un-Cylon like.

Try a simple change in your diet that I recommended to my step-daughter who had been suffering from ovarian cysts, endometriosis and enlarged lymph nodes under the armpits. Replace whatever chicken you are eating with hormone-free organically grown chicken and switch to hormone free brown eggs if you’re eating the white ones. One of the little known causes of ovarian cysts and other female problems is excess estrogen and estrogen immitators from hormone fed animals and disposable plastic water bottles for starters. In 2 1/2 months of making this change and without any medications, vitamins, exotic herbs, etc. my step daughter returned to completely normal health. No ovarian issues; only healthy tissue as verified by her gynecologist. And her lymph nodes had returned to normal by the time the radiologist and surgeon checked her in pre-op. Nothing was found, everything is healthy again. Surgeries cancelled. Once the sources of the problems was removed, her body healed itself completely.

You would love it. I don’t see how anyone could NOT love it. My friend Cara, who had never before watched and enjoyed a sci-fi program, watched the “mini-series” (which was the 3 hour premiere/pilot of the show) at my house on Sunday, and was so hooked, she had finished the first 3 seasons by Thursday of that week.

She had asked me if I’d loan her the rest of season 1, but I couldn’t do it. So she ended up borrowing all the seasons’ discs from her boss. “Luckily,” she had a cold that week, and could call in sick.

My friend Malie, who enjoys magazines such as the one for which you work, and movies like “Sex and the City,” came over a few weeks ago. We were trying to decide which movie to watch, so I made a deal with her. We’d watch BSG for 1/2 hour, and if she wanted, we’d turn it off. We ended up watching the entire mini-series, and I think a couple of more season 1 episodes.

What I’m saying is, you’re going to scarcely believe how you’ve lived this long without it.

Oh boy, if you like something, that means that I’ll probably like it, and having seen zero episodes of Battlestar Galactica it means that I’m like what – four? – seasons behind before I’ve even started…. But all these alien-y people sound interesting so I should watch this show…

Your grandmother sounds (and looks!) like a lovely woman – I’m glad she’s okay. Valley Medical Center can suck it AND line up to eat you. I don’t even know where the hell it is, but I’m angry at them on your behalf. >:-(

You’re right! She does look like Rosie. Rosie was a little bit before my mom’s time, though. This photo was probably taken around 1950 or so, when the women were supposed to be back in the home, barefoot and pregnant and greeting their husband with a smile, a kiss, and a drink.

Although it’s possible she was harboring mammy fantasies, I feel that the outfit in the last photo is very reminscent of Rosie The Riveter – would that have been a contemporary image at the time of your mother’s youth? It may be she was just pretending to be a lesbian icon!
